The Green House?

Posted by

As you may have heard, this year marked the first time that the White House has grown an edible garden in more than 50 years. Encouraged by the likes of local and seasonal food champion Alice Waters (who actually mentioned the idea last October as a guest on Martha Stewart Living Radio!) and White House assistant chef Sam Kass, the Obamas decided that the White House is as good of a place as any other to grow a veggie garden. Check out this recent video posted by WhiteHouse.gov -- it shows how the garden started earlier this spring, gives a bit of history about previous White House gardens, and also shows some cool exclusive video inside the White House kitchens. Let's hope that the White House continues to keep this tradition alive!
