Amy's Bread is one of my favorite bakeries in New York City, not only because they sell delicious and beautiful treats like these holiday cookies, but because Amy Scherber is willing to share her recipes with the rest of us! She joined us on Cooking with Emeril this week to talk about her favorite things to bake this time of year.
Although everything she brought to the studio was tasty, my favorite was this gingerbread cake with lemon sauce. The spices definitely fit the season well, but the bright citrus addition make this a cake I could eat all year round.
Amy gave plenty of advice for home bakers on everything from choosing the right pans to kneading dough perfectly. One listener emailed to ask how bakers can make some cookies turn out soft and other turn out crispy, and this was Amy's response.
Emeril asked her to troubleshoot the most common problems that home cooks encounter when baking. Listen to hear Amy's top tip.
