Valentines Day is almost here and Tom Geniesse of Bottlerocket Wine and Spirit in New York City joined me recently on Living Today to explore some romantic wine pairings for this special hearts-and-flowers day.
Tom says these wine pairings are perfect for Valentines Day and with particular food. Looking for something romantic to pair? Here are Tom's Valentines Day suggestions:
Pairing a wine with oysters.
Tom talked about Louis Metaireau Muscadet Black Label 2007. It's a dry, white wine -- light-bodied and crisp with notes of lemon. The price is around $17and pairs beautifully with oysters, grilled sardines and sushi.
Pairing a wine with strawberry shortcake.
A Patrick Bottex Bugey-Cerdon La Cueille NV is a delightful bubbly rose with hints of raspberry and citrus and pairs beautifully with strawberry shortcake! It sells for around $23.
Pairing a wine with chocolate.
A Domaine la Tour Vieille Banyuls Reserva Grenache Gris is sweet and fruity. It pairs well with chocolate so it's a perfect Valentines Day choice! This wine sells for $28.
Hope everyone has a wonderful Valentines Day and thank you Tom for your great recs!
