Debate season continues on Morning Living-- and this time, it's all about the grill. What's the "heated" discussion about this time? Grills: Gas vs. Charcoal
The Big Apple BBQ Festival takes over the streets of New York City this weekend-- and that means that BBQ greats from around the country are in town. To settle this controversial BBQ debate, two renowned grilling experts joined Morning Living: John Currence, 2009 winner of the Best Chef South Award from the James Beard Foundation and Elizabeth Karmel, America's female grilling expert and the executive chef of Hill Country BBQ in NYC.

Gas grilling all the way!

It is always fun to spend the morning with Kim and Betsy! But this morning was BIG fun because I got to be on air with my good friend, John Currence. We heatedly debated the age old gas vs. charcoal question. Truth be told, I am an equal opportunity griller and love both gas and charcoal but there is something to be said for the three C's of gas grilling: Clean taste, Consistent heat and Convenience! Thank you for having me on!
Come see me, John Currence, the world's best pitmasters, and get some Hill Country brisket and cucumber salad at the Big Apple BBQ Block party this weekend!

I have to go along with the gas grill folks, the charcoal BBQ is just too much work, the lighting and the ashes. Sure the charcoal adds to the flavor, but the flavor has that distinct hint of charcoal fuel yum. Sure you can buy the easy light kind, they are saturated with some sort of fuel to keep them going.
I like to take my gas grill on the road, camping, fishing or even a picnic. It is so much easier to set it up hit one button to light it and no messy ashes when I am done, and don't forget that with he charcoal kind you have to wait for the fire to die down before you can move it.
For my money it's gas Grills all the way.
