A sabbatical is a leave of absence, usually over an extended period of time. But it’s really any break from your normal routine. For this restful word we can thank the Bible. Sabbatical originally described things pertaining to the Sabbath. Sabbath comes from the Hebrew root meaning “to cease.” Particularly on Labor Day weekend, it’s worth remembering that all workers deserve a sabbatical to recharge.
