Today on "Cooking with Emeril," we got a lesson on how to brew beer at home from Shane Welch and Jeff Gorlechen of Sixpoint Craft Ales and advice on using beer in the kitchen from Anna Wolf of My Friend's Mustard. Shane brewed beer in his basement long before founding the brewery, and Anna started making her mustard at home using Sixpoint's brews, so they had plenty of solid advice for the enthusiastic amateur. To start, check out Shane's shopping list of the equipment you'd need to brew serious beer at home.

If they ever get tired of brewing, perhaps Shane and Jeff can take this comedy act on the road.

Thanks for the tips. Going to attempt to brew my first batch of beer soon, reading up on everything I can online. It sounds pretty intimidating but everyone I talk to tell me to just give it a try and it will all come togethor...

As one of the original Sixpoint fans before you went to New York, I only wish that your brews were available where I live in Wisconsin! They are superb!
