In the December issue of Whole Living, we feature a recipe for a delicious DIY facial scrub that smells divine.
What I like about it, first and foremost, is that it encourages you to eat and use fresh citrus--oranges, grapefruit, lemon, lime--and save the peels, which contain skin rejuvenating properties: the fruit enzymes actually help speed cell turnover by loosening the top layer of dead skin cells.
Plus, any aromatherapist will tell you that the smell of citrus lifts the spirits. Which you only need to take a single whiff to know.
Try this simple, do-it-yourself beauty scrub first thing in the morning to give your day a little zing.
CITRUS PEEL SCRUB
1 Tbsp. dried citrus peel, chopped and ground up in food processor
1/2 cup plain yogurt
1 tsp. pure honey
1/4 cup vitamin E oil
2 Tbsp. cornmeal
Mix the ingredients until well blended and massage into damp face. Rinse well with warm water and finish with a splash of cold. You can store the leftover scrub for up to a week in your fridge!
