We know it's not a national holiday, but what better time to celebrate chocolate than the days leading up to Valentine's Day? "Morning Living" is a haven for choco-holics this week with visits from several champions of chocolate, including Baked co-owner Matt Lewis. While they may not seem like the most romantic or decadent of desserts, the chocolate cookie, Matt says, is a perfect solution for friends and romantic interests on Valentine's Day.
Matt, being the lover of cookies that he is, stopped by our studios to share a variety of chocolate cookie confections-- from the simple, yet often misrepresented Chocolate Chip Cookies, to the compact smorgasbord that is a "cowboy cookie." Baked has even managed to condense a black forest cake into a cookie-- an ultra-rich chocolate treat tempered with a smattering of dried cherries and white chocolate chips. So if you're looking for a dessert that could serve the dual purpose of ending a romantic dinner at home and delighting your colleagues at your Valentine's Day office party, why not try one of these chocolate cookie recipes? Dear Martha, This is really a Thank You for giving me a really happy day. In upstate NY we're getting another storm, we're up to over 170 inches and I'm snowed in again. I decided to bake your Cherry Chocolate Chip cookies, download the clip art that goes with them and bag them up for gifts for my friends for Valentines Day. What a great way to spend a snowey day, so a big "Thank You" goes out to you. Sincerely, Gloria Manitta
