Dog Group winners from day two of the 135th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show included: a Black Cocker Spaniel (Sporting), a Portuguese Water Dog (Working), and a Smooth Fox Terrier (Terriers). They joined a Scottish Deerhound (Hounds), a Pekingese (Toys), a Chinese Shar-Pei (Non-Sporting), and a Bearded Collie (Herding), in a remarkable “Best In Show” competition at New York City’s Madison Square Garden. After carefully assessing each breed, judge Paolo Dondina dubbed Hickory, the stunning Scottish Deerhound, “Best In Show.” The five year old beat out more than 2,600 competitors, and is the first Scottish Deerhound ever to win top dog at Westminster. Viewers of USA Network may have caught host David Frei's 'shout out' to our own Martha Stewart, commenting that he had introduced Martha to Hickory earlier in the day. What’s next for Hickory? America's top dog will start with several appearances-- she'll make a stop at "The Martha Stewart Show" today, followed by a special luncheon at New York’s Sardi’s restaurant, and then... home for LOTS of pampering and love!
