Overproof Rum Cocktails for Chris' Birthday!

During today's cocktail hour, we celebrated engineer Chris Hauselt's birthday with four cocktails made from overproof rum. So what's the difference between the Captain Morgan or Bacardi you drink and the overproof rum we're sampling today? The most commonly consumed rum (Captain Morgan, Bacardi, etc.) is about 40-50%  alcohol while overproof rum is over 60% alcohol. Below are Allen's cocktails for the week. Happy birthday, Chris!

Oh So Comfort
2 ounces overproof rum
6 barspoons runny honey
1 ounce fresh lime juice

Shake ingredients over ice and strain into an old-fashioned glass filled with fresh ice.

Rumba
3/4 ounce overproof rum
1 ounce Plymouth Gin
1 ounce fresh lime juice
1/2 ounce real grenadine
1/4 ounce simple syrup

Shake ingredients over ice and strain into chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with with a lime wheel.

Navy D
1 ounce Don Q Light Rum
1 ounce overproof rum
1/2 ounce Le Combier Triple Sec
1/2 ounce of fresh lime juice
1 barspoon simple syrup

Shake ingredients over ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a lime wheel.

Hauselt's Punch
2 ounces overproof rum
1 ounce fresh grapefruit juice
1/2 ounce fresh lime juice
1/2 ounce simple syrup
1 barspoons real grenadine

Shake ingredients over ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a lime wheel.
