What do you look for in a great summer cocktail? For me, it's lots of citrus and light, bright spirits like aperol and pisco. These summer heat waves mean that I need an icy cold drink on my patio, next to the grill. Let's raise a glass and celebrate another beautiful summer weekend!
Sloe Ginn Fizz
2 ounces Plymouth Sloe Gin
1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon superfine sugar
Club soda
Shake first three ingredients over ice and strain into a small, chilled collins glass. Top with chilled club soda.
Central Sour
1 1/2 ounces Ron Zacapa 23 Year Aged Rum
1 ounce pineapple juice
1 ounce port wine
1/4 ounce simple syrup
1 egg
Shake ingredients over ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with an orange twist.
August Paris
1 1/2 ounces Pisco
1 ounce elderflower liqueur
1 ounce fresh grapefruit juice
1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice
Club soda
Shake first four ingredients over ice and strain into a collins glass filled with ice. Top with club soda and garnish with a lemon twist.
Babble and Breeze
2 fresh strawberries, hulled
1 1/2 ounces Thatcher’s Blood Orange Liqueur
1/2 ounces Aperol
2 ounces cranberry juice
1/4 ounce simple syrup
1/4 ounce fresh lime juice
In a mixing glass, muddle strawberries. Add remaining ingredients and shake well over ice. Fine strain into a collins glass filled with fresh ice and garnish with a strawberry on the rim of the glass.
