Cocktail Hour: Picks from the 1956 "Esquire Drink Book"

Each of the cocktails presented during today's Cocktail Hour on "Living Today" was featured in the Esquire 1956 Drink Book.

Alfonso
1/4 ounce gin
1/4 ounce dry vermouth
1/2 ounce Grand Marnier
4 dashes sweet vermouth
1 dash angostura bitters

Shake ingredients over ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

Kailua Cocktail (Bob Crosby’s)
1 1/2 ounces Puerto Rican rum
1 ounce pineapple juice
1/3 ounce fresh lemon juice
1/3 ounce real grenadine

Shake ingredients over ice and strain into punch cups.

New York Cocktail
1 1/2 ounces rye whiskey
1/2 teaspoon powdered sugar
1 dash real grenadine
Juice of 1/2 lime
1 twist of orange peel

Shake ingredients over ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

Sledge Hammer
1/3 ounce brandy
1/3 ounce rum
1/3 ounce apple brandy
1 dash Pernod

Shake ingredients over ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
