New Orleans Style Sno-Balls

Posted by MSLO Blogger

I’ll admit it – I never liked snow cones when I was younger.  They always looked so promising – cold, icy, and colorful. But when reality set in, I realized they were just too crunchy and syrupy for my taste. So when engineer and "Living Today" guest host, Chris Hauselt told me about New Orleans Style Sno-Balls I wasn’t so excited.

He finally convinced me to take a trip to Imperial Woodpecker Sno-Balls in New York City's West Village. I expected to see flavors like "red" and "blue" on the menu. Instead, what I saw was 32 different flavors plus toppings that could be combined in a variety of different ways. My attention had officially been caught. Then the SnoWizard machine was turned on which created fluffy, light, white snow ... I knew that this was not your childhood snow cone! The Sno-Balls did not disappoint. I got a combination of raspberry and chocolate with condensed milk topping, that when stirred in, created a creamy but light and refreshing summer treat.

Are you a fan of the New Orleans style ice?  What’s your favorite flavor combination?
