We had such a good time this week with Bill Telepan as the host of “Cooking Today.” Not only is he a fantastic chef and restaurateur, Bill is also a ton of fun on the radio!
Having started the week off with good friend and fellow chef and restaurateur, Charles Kiely, Bill kept the information flowing with guests Amy Scherber, Michael Anthony, Ed Levine and Sam Clifton.
Amy, an expert in the baking field and the owner of Amy’s Bread in New York City, shared basic 1-0-1 tips on getting started in bread baking. She also treated us to a slice of her Yellow Cake with Pink Frosting – a favorite of Bill’s, and delicious semolina-raisin fennel bread, she shaped like a sunflower to brighten up the gloomy weather we were having.
Michael Anthony, executive chef and partner at Gramercy Tavern shared some of the great fresh seasonal things they’re working on right now at the restaurant, including snakehead fish, an exotic species of fish, Michael recently had on the menu.
We talked food trends with Serious Eats founder, Ed Levine, and learned all about the differences in fast food fish sandwiches, including which one came across as the big winner – one of the stories they recently posted about. And Sam Clifton wowed us with four reasonably priced domestic wines, and an out-of-this-world Blood Orange Margarita cocktail, perfect for welcoming in the weekend!
If you missed today's show, you have another chance to catch it tonight at 6 p.m. ET.
