Royer's Pie Haven on The Editor's Hour

Posted by

The Editor’s Hour welcomed Tara Royer Steele of Royer’s Pie Haven – ( – in Round Top, Texas, famous for their delicious and decadent pies.  Host Hannah Milman spoke with Tara about Royer’s Pie Haven, what it takes to make a pie, and took any baking questions asked by listeners.

Bud Royer, the owner of Royer’s Round Top Café and Tara’s father, joined the conversation and talked about the history of the café and Pie Haven.  The café came before Pie Haven, and Bud and Tara discussed the history of the Pie Haven’s opening and the differences between the two restaurants.

Known for their generosity, the Royers’ have donated their pies to disaster victims to give them hope and comfort.  After Hurricane Sandy hit the East Coast in October 2012, Bud made the journey to the hardest-hit areas of the East Coast and delivered pies to those in need.  Both Bud and Tara are now working to help those in Moore, Oklahoma, affected by the massive tornado that touched down on May 20.

Royer’s Round Top Café was kind enough to send eight pies to Martha Stewart Living.  We hope you enjoy the pictures as much as we enjoyed receiving the delicious treats.  Make sure to listen to The Editor’s Hour, every Tuesday from 1 pm ET-2 pm ET on SiriusXM Stars Channel 106.

  • It's a family of love and compassion I've known them for at least 20 years. They are always giving back with joy and passion. Their restaurant defies the laws of space - a tiny cafe that serves more people then you can imagine in a teeny town in Texas!

I'm honored to know the Royer family.

  • Thank you very much for your great work and high quality best article, my greetings to you
